Romanian cosmetics producer wins trial against Tax Agency
Romanian cosmetics producer Farmec has won the trial against the Romanian Tax Agency ANAF.
The Cluj Court of Appeal ruled in favor of the company on Thursday last week.
ANAF imposed a sanction of almost EUR 12.7 million on Farmec. The amount represented excise duties the denatured alcohol used in manufacturing three products between 2007 and 2011 as well as interest and penalties for the late payment of those duties.
However, the court’s decision proves that the company has always complied with tax obligations, said Mircea Turdean, Farmec general director.
Farmec is the largest cosmetics manufacturer in Romania. Its products are exported to over 30 markets.
