Romanian courier service Fan Courier expands fleet and warehouse space, hires more staff ahead of Black Friday
Romanian parcel courier services provider Fan Courier recently invested EUR 3 million in renewing its car park before the expected delivery peak for the upcoming discount sales period Black Friday.
The company added 90 spaces to its car park, and hired 160 extra staff – drivers, couriers – as well as expanded its warehousing in Bucharest by 2,000 sqm. Thus Fan Courier has a warehousing space of some 8,000 at Stefanesti, near Bucharest.
Last year, the company faced a 40 percent growth in its parcels volume on Black Friday. The company ended 2012 with a tunrover EUR 54.7 million. FAN Courier dispatches packages and envelopes throughout the country with the 1650 cars it holds.
This year several Romanian retailers decided to push Black Friday a week earlier, to November 22, and many had to follow. The largest retailer eMag led the way announcing the change, and several others extended their discount period so as to include November 22 too.
