Romanian car producer Dacia, biggest company in South-East Europe
Local car producer Automobile Dacia has become the largest company in South-East Europe for the first time, with revenues of EUR 4.2 billion in 2014. It has outpaced the oil & gas company OMV Petrom, which had a turnover of EUR 4.1 billion.
OMV Petrom was the leader in the region for six years, according to a ranking of the biggest 100 companies in the region carried out by SeeNews in Bulgaria.
Bulgarian company Lukoil Neftochim Burgas ranks third, with revenues of EUR 3.3 billion.
Romania has five companies in the top 10, namely Automobile Dacia, OMV Petrom, OMV Petrom Marketing (6th place), Rompetrol Rafinare (7th place) and Rompetrol Downstream (10th place). Retailer Kaufland Romania ranks 11th, and it is the largest retailer in South-East Europe.
Some 53 of the 100 companies included in this ranking are from Romania. The study includes companies from ten markets in South-East Europe (SEE), namely Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, and Slovenia.
