Romanian Dacia, no longer a growth engine for Renault

Dacia car registrations in Europe increased by 4.3% in the first quarter of this year, thanks to higher sales of the Duster and Dokker models.

However, Dacia had a decline of 12.6% on the French market, the biggest market for Renault group, reports local Mediafax. Thus, Dacia was no longer the growth engine for Renault in Europe, like last year, as the group’s sales in Europe went up by 9.9%.

The overall growth of the European auto market was 8.9%.

The Clio 4, Captur and Twingo supported an 11.8% growth in Europe for the Renault brand.

Globally, Renault’s sales increased by 0.8% in the first quarter, to 641,588 vehicles, below the overall market growth, which was 1.7%.

The group’s revenues went up by 13.7% in the first three months of the year, to EUR 9.39 billion, according to a group report.
