Romanian Dramaturgy Festival to take place in Timisoara this September

18 August 2020

The National Theater of Timisoara will open the 2020-2021 season in early September with the 25th edition of the European Festival of Performance Timisoara-Festival of Romanian Dramaturgy (FEST-FDR), the most important festival dedicated to Romanian dramaturgy.

This year’s edition of FEST-FDR is called S.O.S. 2020 and will take place throughout the month of September, Agerpres reported.

“The National Theater comes with a new formula of the European Festival of Performance Timisoara-Festival of Romanian Dramaturgy, gluing together a series of theatrical performances, rethinking them for outdoor performances, with the national selection of FEST-FDR performances held on the new open-air stage created by the National Theater for this purpose,” the event’s organizers said in a press release.

“To comply with the COVID-19 safety and protection rules, the National Theater is building an outdoor stage - a new theater space in the Civic Park, around Hall 2,” reads the same press release.

The first performances are scheduled for September 1-2 (Aeroport by Stefan Caraman, artistic director Ion-Ardeal Ieremia), September 5-6 (How I Became Stupid after the novel by Martin Page, artistic director Antonella Cornici), and September 8-9 (Cloaca by Maria Goos, artistic director Mihaela Lichiardopol).
