Romanian eMag.ro sells quarter million products on early Black Friday, many via mobile devices, doubles sales

Romanian online retailer eMag.ro sold EUR 23 million worth of products during its Black Friday campaign last weekend. The retailer sold 250,000 products, above its expectations. Its sales were double on last year, according to general manager Iulian Stanciu.

The retailer managed to sell EUR 1 million worth of cars, this year being first time vehicles were sold on the website. It also recorded an 300 extra orders for cars, aside from the 60 sold during the day.

EMag.ro offered discounts totalling some EUR 10 million this year, and welcomed 3.1 million visitors on its website on Friday, November 22, the day it chose for its early Black Friday campaign. The growth in traffic this year was supported by more visits from the clients’ mobile phones. There were 450,000 visits coming from mobile devices, which generated 13,000 orders.

The highest order made via the mobile phone was of EUR 22,000 for a Ford Kuga. Another mobile user bought a 4K TV, for some RON 17,000 - or some EUR 3,700.

The retailer sold 40,000 tablets within one day, 30,000 mobile phones, 10,000 TV sets, 12,000 cameras and 45,000 household items. eMag.ro managed to sell 1,000 tablets in the first five minutes, or some 3 tablets per second.
