Romanian film awarded at this year’s Berlinale hits the screens in March
Aferim!, the latest film by Romanian director Radu Jude, will be screened in Romanian cinemas starting March 13.
The historical drama recently brought Radu Jude the Silver Bear for Best Director award at this year’s Berlin Film Festival.
The Romanian film was also in the race for the Best Movie award while leading actor Teodor Corban was in the cards to land the best Actor award. The two awards however went to Iranian film Taxi and to Tom Courtenay for his role in 45 Years.
Aferim! is placed in XIX century Wallachia (Tara Romaneasca) and tells the story of a tax collector and his son in their quest to find a runaway slave.
The cast includes Teodor Corban, Mihai ComAnoiu, Cuzin Toma, Alexandru Dabija, Luminita Gheorghiu, Victor Rebengiuc, Alberto Dinache, Alexandru Bindea, Mihaela Sirbu, Adina Cristescu, Serban Pavlu, Gabriel Spahiu and Dan Nicolaescu.
