Romanian firms investigated for illegal luxury car sales in Germany

Romanian police and representatives of the Tax office in Bonn, Germany, conducted several searches in Bucharest and Giurgiu, on Wednesday, May 27, in a case of tax evasion.

The action targeted representatives of local firms suspected of tax evasion in connection to luxury car imports. The cars were not brought in Romania however, but sold in other EU states such as Germany. The firms traded about 50 luxury cars in 2013 and 2014.

The investigators took two people in for questioning is this case. According to judicial sources cited by local Mediafax, the German authorities estimate the damage at EUR 130,000.
