Romanian furniture producer and retailer Lemet’s turnover went up 20 percent year-on-year in 2012, to some EUR 47.1 million (RON 210 million), according to the company. The manufacturer’s turnover in 2011 was EUR 40.8 million.

The company’s sales last year increased mainly due to the expansion of the furniture producer’s LEM’S stores network, as well as launching new products. The number of stores is currently 100, while the total retail area across the country reaches 65,000 sqm.

“We opened 12 stores in 2012, in areas such as Suceava, Călărași, Vâlcea, Ploiești and Bucharest, all with areas of over 800 sqm, for which the investments totaled some EUR 1.2 million (RON 5.4 million). The investments made last year in the LEM’S network , together with those made for the Lemet plant, made our business go up by 20 percent over 2011,” said Alexandru Rizea, Lemet’s founder.

Lemet, initially a furniture manufacturer, has expanded with a retail chain across Romania. Its factory in Campina, Romania, was set up in 1991 and currently covers 30,000 sqm. Lemet’s factory produces 360,000 furniture modules a year. The company currently has a total of 1,250 employees. Its main competitors are Mobexpert, Elvila, Ikea, Kika, Rovere Mobili.
