Romanian furniture producer Lemet sees 10% increase in sales, opens flagship store in Bucharest

Romanian furniture producer Lemet increased its sales by 10% in the first nine months of 2014, to EUR 36.5 million, due to investments made in the last three years in expanding its local retail network, the company has announced.

Lemet recently opened its largest store in Romania, under the Lem’s brand, in Vulcan Value Center shopping mall in Bucharest. The store covers 2,000 sqm, on two levels, and required a EUR 450,000 investment. The company now has three stores in Bucharest with a total surface of 4,000 sqm.

Lemet has also opened two new stores in Onesti and Botosani, this year, in which it invested some EUR 565,000. The company now operates 86 Lem’s stores in Romania with a total selling surface of 66,000 sqm. This makes it one of the largest retailers on the market.

Lemet also has a furniture factory in Campina. The group had over 1,350 employees.

The company was founded in 1991 by local entrepreneur Alexandru Rizea.
