Romanian gas producer Romgaz withdraws from Black Sea offshore project

17 February 2016

Romanian state-owned gas and electricity producer Romgaz withdrew from the projects Est Rapsodia and Trident, two offshore oil and gas explorations in the Black Sea, where it was partner with Russian oil group LukOil, according to the company’s preliminary report for 2015.

The Romanian Energy Ministry Victor Grigorescu has confirmed the information, reports local Economica.net.

Romgaz had a 10% stake in the Est Rapsodia and Trident projects, which contain gas reserves of at least 30 billion cubic meters. The company’s report doesn’t mention if it sold its stake to LukOil or gave away its stake free of charge.

Romgaz also pulled away from several gas exploration projects in Poland last year.
