Romanian Government approves EUR 17 mln Tulcea Fish Exchange

07 December 2011

The Romanian Government recently approved the details for the Tulcea Fish Exchange Market, the first investment of this kind in the Romanian fisheries sector. The total value of the investment is about EUR 17.6 million (RON 77 million), higher than the  EUR 6.4 million (RON 28 million) initially announced by the Government.

The project will be financed from funds allocated by the European Commission via the European Fisheries Fund, the 2007-2013 Operational Program for Fishing and from the state budget through the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The Tulcea Fish Exchange Market will sell fish products from the Danube Delta and the Black Sea. The Exchange Market will have 14 collection points, where fishermen and professional fishing associations will deliver their catches.
