The health card has become the instrument to validate and reimburse medical services provided by the basic package covered by Romania’s state as of May 1.

About 96% of the over 14 million issued health cards have reached the insured persons, according to The National Health Insurance House (CNAS). Another 340,000 cards have been distributed and are at the family doctors, whereas some 500,000 cards are still in the health insurance houses.

People who haven’t received their cards yet can still benefit from medical services, reimbursed by CNAS.
