Romanian Health Ministry launches anticorruption line

12 December 2016

Romania’s Health Ministry will launch a special anticorruption telephone line where the patients, doctors, and other people who witness corruption offenses in a medical unit or pharmacy can call to signal the crime.

The TelVerde dispatch is managed by the General Anticorruption Direction – DGA.

The Health Ministry will also launch a new form to evaluate the patients’ satisfaction with the way they are treated in state medical units. The questionnaire will be sent via text message and the results will be uploaded online in a public database.

Until now, patients had to fill in a printed form and the answers were uploaded in the system by a secretary. This has resulted in distorted results, which showed a satisfaction level of 97.5%, according to the Health Ministry.
