Romanian healthcare operator MedLife acquires private clinic network Anima
Romanian private healthcare operator MedLife has acquired Anima, one of the largest private providers of outpatient medical services reimbursed by the Bucharest Health Insurance House (CASMB).
Anima has a network of six clinics and a lab, and over 200 employees including doctors and support staff. The company has a contract with CASMB, covering over 15 specialties, including family medicine, obstetrics - gynecology, cardiology, psychiatry, and rheumatology.
Anima has 75,000 corporate subscribers and posted a turnover of EUR 5.2 million in 2016. The private clinic network was founded in 2010 by French investor Ludovic Robert, one of the founders of the A&D Pharma pharmaceutical group. The value of the acquisition hasn’t been made public.
“Anima will remain an autonomous company, with a sales department that will function differently and independently of the one that promotes the MedLife brand. We will keep the current management, which we trust,” said Mihai Marcu, MedLife President and CEO.
MedLife is the leader of the local private healthcare services market. The group has accelerated its expansion in the last two years by opening new clinics and buying smaller competitors. Anima is the 15th company purchased by MedLife in recent years.
The group is 51% controlled by the Marcu family and its shares are listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange starting December 2016. MedLife has a market capitalization of EUR 114 million.
