Romanian healthcare provider Sanador foresees higher than expected turnover, wants more foreign patients this year

27 November 2013

Private healthcare services provider Sanador estimates a turnover of up to EUR 34 million this year, exceeding the initial estimate of EUR 28 million, according to Doris Andronescu, general manager of Sanador. The provider now wants to increase the share of foreign patients treated in its facilities.

There were 40,000 patients treated in the Sanador private hospital since its opening in 2011. Up to four percent of the total number of patients were foreigners, most of them coming from France, Germany, Italy and Arab countries.

“The prices in Romania are lower. If in Paris a bypass surgery costs some EUR 20,000, our prices start from EUR 4,000, representing only the intervention, plus other costs. The final price can stay somewhere around EUR 6,000, which is still much lower than abroad,” said Doris Andronescu, quoted by local daily Wall-street.ro.

The total value of investments made in the Sanador hospital is close to EUR 3 million. The most recent investment, of EUR 1 million, was made in the new cardiac surgery section.

The private hospital Sanador opened in 2011 in Bucharest, following an investment of EUR 40 million. It has a total area of 23,000 sqm and 402 beds.
