Romanian Highways Authority looks for private investors for new Craiova-Pitesti link

The Romanian Highways Authority (CNADNR) is currently seeking a private investor to design, finance, construct, operate and maintain the future Craiova - Pitesti highway in Romania. The value of the project amounts to some EUR 1.7 billion and highway section's total length is 121 km.

According to a recent announcement posted by CNADNR, the shortlisted candidates will decide if this segment is a highway or an express-way after the competitive bidding phase. The Craiova-Pitesti highway/express-way will cross Arges, Dolj and Olt counties to finally connect with the Bucharest-Ploiesti highway.

The deadline to submit applications is May 8, 2013, at 11:00. The Romanian Highway Company’s announcement on Craiova-Pitesti road segment concession contract comes shortly after the candidates for the Comarnic-Brasov contract were announced. Chinese company China Communication Construction, as well as local construction companies Spedition UMB and Tehnostrade, along with foreign construction firms Vinci, Strabag and Aktor, and Impregilo and Salini submitted offers to build the 55-kilometer long Comarnic – Brasov highway.
