Romanian households have average revenues of EUR 665
The average income of Romanian households recorded a quarterly increase of 2.9% in the third quarter of 2016, reaching RON 2,972 (EUR 665) per month.
The households’ spending went up by 4% to around EUR 569.
By comparison, Romanian households had an average income of RON 2,713 (EUR 613) in the third quarter of 2015.
Households in Romania have on average 2.6 people. This means that the monthly income of a family member amounted to EUR 252 in the third quarter of 2016.
More than half (60.4%) of the households’ revenues came from wages. The revenues from agriculture contributed by 3.8% to the households’ income whereas pensions and welfare had a share of 21.8% in the total income.
In the rural areas, people are more dependent on social benefits, which bring 25.7% of the average household income. In cities, social benefits generated 19.6% of households’ total revenues. The figures are going down compared to the third quarter of 2015.
