Romanian insurance company Astra Asigurari recently entered the Slovakian market, the third foreign country to which the Romanian company has expanded, after Hungary and Germany. Astra will sell property insurance, all inclusive insurance and the mandatory insurance RCA in Slovakia, and will enter the health and life insurance segment in 2013. The general manager of the Slovakian subsidiary is Ondrej Zatko.

In Romania, Astra asigurari ranks second on the general insurance segment in 2012, with EUR 178 million of gross subscribed premiums in the first nine months of 2012.

Next year Astra, owned by Romanian Dan Adamescu, plans to expand to Georgia as well.
