Romanian insurer’s gross premiums, down 6.7%

17 February 2015

Local insurer Euroins Romania ended 2014 with revenues from gross underwritten premiums worth EUR 107 million, down 6.7% over the previous year.

The company foresaw the decrease in premium income, as it was part of its efforts to restructure the current mandatory car insurance (RCA) portfolio by stepping out of unprofitable segments such as heavy trucks or buses, reads a company’s press release.

Euroins Romania cut last year by about 70% the number of premiums on these segments which post the most frequent and most costly damages, reports local Capital.ro.

Inflows from shareholder Euroins Insurance Group (EIG) amounted to about EUR 20 million last year.
