Romanian Language Day to be celebrated worldwide this year

Romanian Cultural Institutes (ICR) throughout the world will organize several events this year, such as exhibitions, poetry recitals and plays, to mark the Day of the Romanian Language, celebrated on August 31.

Between September 3 and September 8, 2013, Accademia di Romania in Rome, in partnership with the National Museum of Romanian Literature, will organize an exhibition consisting of 50 portrait photos of Romanian writers and poets, as well as manuscripts and facsimiles belonging to Mihai Eminescu, Ion Creanga, Nicolae Iorga, Lucian Blaga, Nichita Stanescu, and many others.

ICR Budapest celebrates the Romanian Language Day on September 26, when will host the interactive show Magia Cuvantului (The Magic of the Word), by Giorgiana Elena Popan.

ICR Mihai Eminescu in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova, will organize several events to mark this day.  The Sufletul Satului Românesc  (The Soul of the Romanian Village) exhibition will be organized between August 28 and September 27 at Casa de Cultura in Leova, while the Mihai Eminescu exhibition will be organized in Straseni on August 27. Exhibitions and events will be organized in several other cities in the Republic of Moldova, such as Hincesti, Causeni, Soroca, Balti and Drochia.

ICR Dimitrie Cantemir in Istanbul proposes the project Romanian Language Day celebrated in Istanbul: Emil Boroghina - Traditional Romanian poetry reading, which will be organized at the institute’s headquarters on August 29.

ICR Madrid will organize, between August 31 and September 10, the project Romanian Language Day in Spain, an online campaign that aims to promote Romanian literature translated into Spanish.

To celebrate the Romanian Language Day, ICR New York will organize, between August 29 and September 1, four Romanian poetry recitals interpreted by Romanian Constantin Chiriac, in the U.S. and Canada.

ICR Paris also marks this day by organizing, on August 31, the Sunt un Orb (I am a Blind Man) recital in the interpretation of the Romanian actor Horatiu Mălăele, at the Byzantine Hall of Behague Palace.

The Eternal Journey and identity dilemmas. About the anxiety and challenges along the Road, with Carmen Firan, Adrian Sangeorzan and Vlad Solomon, is the literary event hosted by ICR Tel Aviv on August 27, for the Romanian Language Day celebration.

The access to all the cultural events is free.
