Romanian lawyer leaves NNDKP to turn entrepreneur with tax and regulatory boutique law firm

22 February 2012

Romanian lawyer Madalin Niculeasa, former partner with local law firm NNDKP, left to create his own law firm specializing in taxation and regulatory issues, under the name Niculeasa Tax & Regulatory. He plans to invest around EUR 300,000 in the business over the next two years. The law firm will have 10 lawyers maximum and expects to break even in six months to a year. “We would like to be lawyers firstly and then business people, which is possible in a flexible structure. It is a natural tendency to respond to clients who want a personalized relationship with their lawyer, rather than an institutional relationship,” said Madalin Niculeasa,  (in picture) who will coordinate the team.

He has been working with NNDKP for the last five years, where he was a partner, coordinating the Craiova office. His wife Ioana Niculeasa leads NNDKP's real estate division. Before joining NNDKP he worked with Zamfirescu Racoţi Predoiu (ZRP).

Other former NNDKP lawyers chose the entrepreneurial route in 2008. Francis Peli, his wife Carmen Peli and Cristina Filip, all partners in NNDKP at the time, left to set up the Peli Filip law firm four years ago.

NNDKP is one of the largest Romanian law firms. It posted a turnover of EUR 15.7 million in 2010, on all its segments- law firm and specialized divisions. The firm was created 22 years ago by lawyers Ion and Manuela Nestor.
