Romanian lender Banca Carpatica reports loss and lower revenues in the first quarter
Romanian lender Banca Comerciala Carpatica ended the first quarter of 2014 with a net loss of some EUR 201,000, compared to a profit of over EUR 3.3 million reported in the same period of the previous year, after the total revenue dropped 39 percent, to EUR 8.1 million.
At the end of March, the lender had total assets of RON 4.08 billion (EUR 906 million), slightly up from end-2013.
Banca Carpatica’s operating expenses decreased by 18.6 percent year-on-year in the first quarter, to EUR 7.9 million.
The lender had a network of 127 units at the end of March this year, down from 137 in end-2013, and over 1,000 employees
