UniCredit Bank increased the down payment for mortgage loans in lei to 25% whereas Banca Carpatica increased it to 28%.

The number of local banks that increased the down payment for housing loans has thus reached 13. The banks include Banca Romaneasca, Raiffeisen Bank, Alpha Bank, BRD, Bancpost, Garanti Bank, Intesa Sanpaolo Bank, CEC Bank, BCR, ING Bank, Banca Transilvania.

Local lenders have taken this decision due to the higher risks in mortgage lending after the giving in payment law, which allows debtors to discharge their debt by giving the mortgaged assets to the banks.
