Buzarnescu has been a professional tennis player since 2004. However, kept her away from the court for several years. The Bucharest-born player restarted her career in 2017 and had a great run this year. She reached two WTA finals, in Hobart and Prague, before winning the San Jose tournament.
She also had good results at Roland Garros, where she reached the fourth round, and Wimbledon, where she reached the third round.
