Romanian Minister: IMF and EC agree to postpone gas price liberalization

The International Monetary Fund IMF, the European Commission EC and the World Bank have agreed with the postponement of the gas market liberalization for households in Romania, according to the Minister Delegate for Energy, Razvan Nicolescu. The international financial institutions have also agreed with the terms proposed by the Romanian side, added the minister, reports local Agerpres.

In early-September, Nicolescu said he wants the price of domestic gas for households to stay flat until July 1, 2016, and will propose it to EU authorities. He said he will also propose extending the gas market liberalization period until July 1, 2021, from December 31, 2018 as provided in the current calendar.
