Romanian Minister: Oracle will invest EUR 100 mln in Romania in call centers

American software producer Oracle will invest some EUR 100 million in expanding its existing capacities in Romania, according to Dan Şova, the Minister Delegate for Infrastructure Projects and for Foreign Investments, who attended a TV show on ProTV. According to Sova, the investment targets call centers.

Oracle had a staff of 2,100 in Romania at the end of 2012, according to data from the Finance Ministry. In 2012, the company posted a turnover of EUR 104 million in Romania, and a loss of EUR 3.2 million. The year before Oracle posted a profit of EUR 5.6 million, at a turnover of around EUR 95 million.

Besides Oracle, Sova also mentioned possible Chinese investments at Turceni, an over EUR 1 billion project, as well as the OMV – Exxon investments in the Black Sea, another EUR 1 billion project. He also reminded of the possible investments on the auto segment, besides the one announced by the Daimler group.
