Romanian movie returns with Silver Bear from 2017 Berlinale
Romanian movie Ana, mon amour, directed by Calin Peter Netzer, won a Silver Bear at the 2017 Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale).
Dana Bunescu, the film’s editor, won the Silver Bear for Outstanding Artistic Contribution.
Ana, mon amour, which had its world premiere at the Berlinale on Friday evening, was one of the most appreciated films at this year’s edition of the festival.
The movie is a drama that focuses on a love story and its most difficult moments. Romanian actors Mircea Postelnicu and Diana Cavallioti play the leading roles.
The festival’s international jury awarded this year’s Golden Bear for best film to the Hungarian movie Testről és lélekről (On Body and Soul) by Ildikó Enyedi. See the full winners’ list here.
Romanian filmmaker Calin Peter Netzer also directed a Golden Bear Movie, Pozitia Copilului (The Child’s Pose), which won the grand prize of the Berlin International Film Festival in 2013. The award was granted to the film’s producer, Romanian Ada Solomon. She also produced another Romanian Berlinale winner, Radu Jude’s Aferim!, which earned the director a Silver Bear for Best Director in 2015.
