Romanian movie to compete at the Tallin Black Nights Film Festival
Orizont, the third feature film directed by Romanian Marian Crisan, will have the world premiere at Tallin Black Nights Film Festival in Estonia. The event will take place between November 13 and November 29.
The film, which is a free adaptation of the novel Moara cu Noroc (Lucky Mill) written by Romanian Ioan Slavici, was included in the festival's official competition.
Orizont tells the story of Lucian and Andra, a married couple who, trying to find their luck, take over a cottage somewhere in the Apuseni Mountains. Things seem to be going well until Lucian realizes that everything that happens on the mountain and at the cottage is controlled by Zoli, a boss of the illegal logging mafia.
The cast includes Romanian actors Emilian Oprea, Maria Seleș, Ioan Paraschiv, Valeriu Andriuță, and Elena Purea.
Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival is one of the most important film events in the world, being included in the same category with the festivals in Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Locarno, and Karlovy Vary.
Orizont is to arrive in Romanian cinemas in the first part of 2016.
In 2008, Marian Crisan won the Palm D’Or for the best short film at Cannes, with Megatron. His first feature film Morgen won the Special Jury Award and the Award from the Ecumenical Jury at Locarno International Film Festival, the Best Director award at Wiesbaden, and 15 other important prizes.
