Romanian movies line up for festival in New York at end of November

Some of the most important recent feature - length Romanian movies will be screened in New York between November 30 and December 6 during the sixth edition of the Romanian Film Festival.

This year's edition is dedicated to the film critic Alex Leo Serban, who passed away in April this year. The festival will also honor Liviu Ciulei, one of the legendary masters of Romanian theatre and film, who passed away this October. NYC audiences will get a chance to see, in new prints, produced with the support of the Romanian National Film Center, the very first U.S. retrospective of Ciulei's outstanding directing career, according to the event organizers, the Romanian Cultural Institute in New York and the Film Society of Lincoln Center.

This year's lineup will include Marian Crisan's 'Morgen', Constantin Popescu's 'Principles of Life', Catalin Mitulescu's 'Loverboy', Bogdan George Apetri's 'Outbound or Radu Gabrea's 'Red Gloves', as well as special programs that aim at providing a complex perspective on Romanian Cinema.

The festival will also include a roundtable discussion on the New Romanian Cinema on December 4.

Tickets are now on sale both at the Walter Reade Theater’s box office and online at FilmLinc.com. A Four-Film Package is also available.
