Romanian National Bank slashes key interest rate by further 0.5%
The Board of the National Bank of Romania decided to lower the monetary policy rate to 4.5 percent per year from 5 percent starting with August 6, while maintaining the existing levels of minimum reserve requirement ratios on both leu- and foreign currency-denominated liabilities of credit institutions.
This is the second drop in the key interest rate since May 2012, and comes soon after the BNR slashed the rate by 0.25 percent earlier in July.
