Online retailer Elefant.ro doubled its sales in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period last year, reaching EUR 4.5 million.

This was due to the introduction of new products in the portfolio, as well as to Romanians’ growing interest in online shopping.

The retailer expects to double its turnover this year.

“Normally, an online store generates some 20% of its revenues only in the first quarter. We managed to double our operational performance in Q1 year-on-year,” said Dan Vidrascu, CEO Elefant.ro, cited by local Wall-street.ro.

The company expects a 30% increase in sales in April, due to the Easter holidays.
