The advertising spaces in the Bucharest metro network will be managed by Spectacular Group of Companies, which has won the bid organized by metro operator Metrorex. The value of the contract was not disclosed.

Spectacular already had half of Metrorex' outdoor-type of advertising space in its portfolio. The group is made of eight companies companies. Spectacular OOH & Printing had a turnover of EUR 3.1 million last year while Spectacular Global Outdoor Media, a turnover of EUR 781,000 last year. The latest registered companies were Spectacular Street Furniture and Spectacular Retail.

The Bucharest metro has a network of 68.6 km and a total of 51 underground stations, all with outdoor publicity space. Last year, 170 million passengers used the Metrorex network, and in 2008, 182 million. The Bucharest metro carries around 25 percent of the commuters in Bucharest, making them captive audiences to advertising messages.
