Romanian Parliament Committee approves request to arrest former minister
The parliamentary committee on legal affairs on Sunday, February 8, approved the prosecutors’ request to arrest the former minister Elena Udrea, reports local Mediafax.
The National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) prosecutors have asked for her preventive detention in two major corruption cases: the Microsoft file and the “gala Bute” case.
The committee casted 17 votes “for”, 3 votes “against” and 2 canceled votes for Udrea's arrest in the “Gala Bute” file, while 16 members voted for her arrest in the Microsoft file, 4 against and 2 abstained.
The Parliament will cast today the final vote on Elena Udrea’s arrest, in a plenary sitting.
