Romanian PM says minimum wage won’t increase on November 1

25 October 2018

Romania’s prime minister Viorica Dancila said on Wednesday, October 24, that the minimum gross wage won’t increase on November 1, as proposed by the National Prognosis Commission (CNP) and the Labor Ministry.

It’s possible that the increase will take place on December 1 or January 1, 2019, she added.

The PM, however, agrees with the other proposal, namely a differentiated minimum wage based on education and seniority, saying that such schemes also apply in other member states.

The minimum gross wage should increase from the current level of RON 1,900 (EUR 408) to RON 2,080 (EUR 446), respectively RON 2,350 (EUR 504) for employees with higher education or over 15 years of seniority.
