Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta (in picture) has scheduled on Friday (October 25) a meeting with members of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission, according to local news agency Mediafax.

An IMF mission headed by Andrea Schaechter is currently in Bucharest to discuss the first review of the fund’s stand-by arrangement with Romania, which was approved last month.

The delegation, together with teams from the European Commission and the World Bank, will stay in Romania until November 5, 2013.

During the visit, the IMF representatives will meet with Romanian representatives of political parties, trade unions, business associations, banks and civil society.

The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved on September 27 a new stand-by arrangement (SBA) for Romania of EUR 1.98 billion. The Romanian authorities plan to treat the new SBA as precautionary.
