Women drivers are more careful than man, as only 11.5% of the serious road accidents registered in Romania last year were caused by women at the wheel, according to a statement from the Romanian Police.

Most of the accidents women caused in localities were related to the fact that the drivers failed to give priority to pedestrians crossing the street (15.58%). Other causes were the failure to give priority to other vehicles (13%), and high speed (11.9%).

Outside localities, women drivers caused accidents because they failed to respect the speed limits (12.4% of the cases), or because they were doing other things while driving (3%).

On March 8, when Romania also celebrates the International Women’s Day, the traffic police officers offered flowers to women drivers. Similar actions were also organized on March 1, when Romanians celebrated the first day of spring.
