Romanian Post sees EUR 3.5 mln net profit in the first half

10 August 2016

The Romanian Post registered a net profit of EUR 3.5 million in the first half of 2016, which is 2.5% higher than the one reported in the same period the previous year. Its gross profit amounted to EUR 4.4 million, up 5% year-on-year.

The company’s total revenues decreased by 0.4% in the first six months of 2016 compared to the same period in 2015, to some EUR 126.3 million, the Romanian Post announced. Meanwhile, its expenses went down to around EUR 122 million.

“Cuts in important categories of expenses (fuel, rent, heating, electricity), resulted from better contracts with the suppliers, significantly influenced this indicator,” reads the Post’s statement.

The company recorded EUR 7.3 million losses in 2015.  The negative result was due to a fine from the Competition Council.

The Post expects a positive gross result of some EUR 898,000 (RON 4 million) for 2016, according to its revenues and expenditure budget.
