Romanian prosecutors have indicted the manager and the medical director of a private hospital in Zalau, Salaj county, for fraud. They’ve allegedly obtained reimbursement for medical services based on fake hospital admission information.

The two directors have caused a damage of over RON 1.6 million (EUR 361,000) to Salaj Health Insurance Department, reports local Mediafax.

Leontin Babtan, the manager of the Rehabilitation Treatment and Home Care Center, is charged with fraud, forgery, and use of forged documents while medical director Ioana Viorica Rotaru is accused of complicity to fraud and forgery.

Between 2008 and February 2015, the two directors issued 63 reimbursement reports containing fake data, which attested the provision of medical services that weren’t actually provided. Salaj Health Insurance Department discovered the fake admissions and notified the authorities.
