Romanian Radu Mihaileanu’s first English-language film to be screened in cinemas worldwide
The History of Love, the English-language debut film of Romania-born director Radu Mihaileanu, will be screened in cinemas worldwide as Wild Bunch has sold the broadcast rights in several countries.
The movie, which stars Derek Jacobi, Sophie Nelisse, Gemma Arterton and Elliott Gould, is based on American novelist Nicole Krauss’ international bestseller. It tells the story of an old Polish Jewish immigrant who never truly recovered from losing the great love of his life after she emigrated with her family to the States during World War II.
Now in post-production, the EUR 15 million film has been acquired by eOne (Canada), Prokino (Germany), Vertigo (Spain), BIM (Italy), Cineart (Benelux), Film Coopi (Switzerland), California Filmes (Latin America), Maintitle (South Korea), Palmera (Central America), MCF (former Yugoslavia), Lusomundo (Portugal), and Feel Good (Greece), reports Variety.com.
Radu Mihaileanu was born in Bucharest. He left Romania in 1980 and graduated the IDHEC cinematographic institute in Paris. He is best known for Le Concert, Train of Life, and The Source.
