Romanian RCS & RDS buys smaller Internet provider Fastlink

Romanian telecom company RCS&RDS has acquired local internet firm Fastlink, a company which posted a loss of EUR 200,000 in 2012.

Active since 2007, Fastlink's value was not released following the deal.

It's customer base will be taken over by RCS & RDS, with the takeover set to be finalized by end of September.

The buyer ended 2011 with a turnover of EUR 479 million.

RCS & RDS runs activities in other European markets, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Spain, Italy and Serbia, as well as its home country Romania.

Owned by businessman Zoltan Teszari, the company sold its Slovakian subsidiary to Slovak Telekom, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom.

Fastlink provided Internet and telephony services in Bucharest, in the Cotroceni, Sebastian, Rahova and Berceni areas, as well as in the cities of Buzau and Pantelimon near Bucharest.
