Romanian RCS & RDS launches aggressive landline telephony offer: EUR 2/ month for unlimited calls

05 October 2011

Romanian telecom company RCS & RDS will make another step in the attempt to gain more of the landline telephony market in Romania, by launching an offer which allows its subscribers to give unlimited phone calls to any landline number in Romania, irrespective of the network, for just EUR 2 a month.  “We believe that the paid telephony will disappear. We made the first steps in 2004 and this month we will offer our landline customers a package of EUR 2 per month which includes unlimited calls to any landline network in Romania. We want to see this on the mobile telephony as well,” said Valentin Popoviciu, RCS & RDS's development director.

RCS & RDS is the second largest players on the Romanian landline telephony market, after Romtelecom. It is also the largest supplier of TV and Internet services in Romania.

RCS & RDS ranks 37th in the top of the biggest companies in Romania, based on their 2010 turnovers (check the full top we published here). Its 2010 sales reached EUR 418 million, up from EUR 391 million the year before.

RCS & RDS has 9 million users of cable, internet, satellite TV, mobile and fixed telephony services. The company is controlled by Romanian businessman Zoltan Teszari. It was created 15 years ago and operates on the Romanian market, as well as in Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia and Serbia.
