Romanian retailer ends franchise agreement with Carrefour
Romanian retailer Angst had decided to withdraw from the franchise agreement with French Carrefour, three years after singing the partnership, according to Economica.net.
The 22 Angst Carrefour Express stores will re-brand back to Angst, as the local retailer decided to focus on processing and selling meat products, said Sorin Minea, the owner of Angst, quoted by Economica.net. He however said the collaboration with Carrefour will continue on other levels.
Angst currently runs 22 stores, out of which 7 are owned by the retailer, and the rest are leased locations.
Carrefour has other franchise contracts with local retailers in Romania, including Pronto in Bucharest, Sigma in Giurgiu and RostCom in Brasov.
Carrefour runs 25 hypermarkets in Romania, 80 Market supermarkets, and, excluding the Angst shops, 43 Express neighborhood shops.
