UPDATE: Romanian roads authority lifts bridge toll on Sun Highway to the seaside during certain weekend hours
After announcing that the fee for crossing the Fetesti-Cernavoda bridge on Romania's Sun Highway A2 to the seaside was to be suspended during weekends, Romania’s roads authority CNADNR made another announcement saying that this measure hasn’t entered into force, reports local Capital.ro.
UPDATE: The bridge toll was lifted for weekends starting Friday, July 4, when an order was published in the Official Gazette. This is valid until August 31, and applies to the following schedule: on Fridays, 18,00 to 24,00, on Saturdays, between 06,00 in the morning at 12,00 noon, on the Bucharest - Constanta route, and on Sundays, between 16,00 and 24,00- the latter only on the route from Constanta to Bucharest.
“The authority will announce, in the right time, the date when the new regulations at the Fetesti toll station on the A2 highway will enter into force,” reads CNADNR’s notice.
In the first announcement, CNADNR said that the fee for toll the Fetesti-Cernavoda bridge is suspended during summer weekends, between July 3 and August 31, to avoid possible traffic jams.
The authorities applied this measure last year and, according to calculations, the lost some EUR 2 million in bridge tolls.
