13 December 2016

Gas producer Romgaz, one of the most profitable state-owned companies, wants to access funds from the National Investment Plan for building a thermal power plant in Iernut.

The funds can support up to 25% of the investment that totals about EUR 270 million, according to company representatives, reports local Wall-street.ro.

Romgaz could receive a financing of about EUR 68 million for this project. The thermal plant will be financed from the company’s own funds, as well as from the National Investment Plan.

At the end of September, Romgaz had cash, bank deposits and state bonds of about RON 2.48 billion (EUR 550 million), enough to support the construction of the plant.

The company’s representatives are also currently negotiating again with the unions the collective labor agreement for the next two years. The gas producer will give holiday bonuses to its employees, which will be similar to the ones from last year.
