Romania’s Social Democratic Party (PSD) president Liviu Dragnea asked the tax agency ANAF to remove the form called D088 that the companies needed to fill in when they wanted to register for VAT.

This form has been “the nightmare” of business people and a "bureaucratic burden". Due to this form, thousands of Romanian companies have been blocked abusively, Dragnea said, reports Digi24.

“It is the first time, in the last eight years, when the number of closed companies was higher than the number of established firms,” the PSD leader said.

He added that he has asked the PSD Government to remove the form this week.

ANAF employees told the local Hotnews.ro that Dragnea’s haste in removing the 088 form is suspicious, as long as this form helps reduce tax evasion through ghost companies.
