Romanian song of the week: Modernis by Mono Jacks
This week’s song is called ’Modernis’ and is performed by The Mono Jacks, an already well known Romanian band. The song speaks about conformist people that will do anything just to be accepted by the society. This tune is a perfect mix between powerful, ironical lyrics and catchy indie-rock beats. The Romanian band The Mono Jacks is composed of Doru Trascau (voice and quitar), Florin Vasile (quitar and back-voice), Alex Voicu (bass) and Dorian Cazacu (drums). The Mono Jacks had the very first show in late 2008, while in 2010 the band made to the top of the alternative charts with its first debut singles, “Maria”, “Come Back Girl”, and “Push the pedal”. Their post-rock rhythms with visible traces of ’90s alternative and the band’s contagious live chemistry are responsible for some of the best concerts on Bucharest’s music scene.
