Romanian students win eight medals at marketing contest in France

Students from the Bucharest University won eight medals at the 17th Markstrat session of the intensive programme organized by Dukenet consortium at the Universite de Bretagne Occidentale, Quimper, France. The contest took place between May 16 and May 23.

The Romanian students won two gold medals (from two possible medals), two silver medals (from two possible medals) and four bronze medals. The gold went to Ignat Denisa-Magdalena and Nicoleta Catana while Raducan Cristiana and Musea Ana-Maria won silver. The four bronze medals went to Rotariu Simona, Ciolan Corina-Adriana, Nicu Ana Maria and Pirva Andreea Diana, according to a statement of the university.

Professors Diana Ionita and Magdalena Platis–Iordache, which led the Romanian team, also won gold medals.

A total of 49 students and nine teachers from the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Italy and Romania participated in this year’s competition.

During one week, under the Markstrat programme, students took part in 11 rounds of simulation for marketing problems in English, online, coordinated by teachers / instructors from the participating countries. Several of their skills were tested during these simulations, such as English language skills, specific terminology in marketing, theoretical concepts of marketing and management, and IT skills.

Dukenet, founded 19 years ago, comprises universities from several European countries, namely Denmark, the Netherlands, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, the UK, Norway, Romania, Poland and Turkey. The University of Bucharest became an equal partner in 2008.
