Romanian takes over from Frenchman as CEO of insurer Allianz-Tiriac

Romanian Virgil Soncutean took over as general manager of Allianz-Tiriac starting Thursday, September 1. Allianz-Tiriac is the second largest insurance company in Romania based on its revenues in the first three months of this year.

The move was first announced in April this year.

Soncutean, 40, replaced Frenchman Remi Vrignaud, who has been the company’s general director in the last four years. The new manager will continue the strategy followed by Vrignaud and will aim to simplify the business model through digitization.

Virgil Soncutean has an experience of over 15 years in the insurance sector. He has been Chief Sales Officer at Allianz-Tiriac since 2012. He started his career in Allianz-Tiriac in 2001 and in 2006 he joined the Allianz team in Germany, where he coordinated organizational transformation programs for the group in 20 countries.
