Romanian tax agency collects almost EUR 44.3 billion in 2016
The Romanian tax agency ANAF collected almost EUR 44.3 billion (RON 199.4 billion) last year, more than in 2015 but slightly below the level set in the revised November 2016 budget. The agency collected EUR 578 million (RON 2.6 billion) more than in 2015, according to data released by the institution.
ANAF collected some EUR 3.4 billion (RON 15.38 billion) from the profit tax and some EUR 6 billion (RON 27.37 billion) from the income tax. It also brought in some EUR 11.4 billion (RON 51.66 billion) from VAT collection, and reimbursed VAT worth EUR 3.3 billion (RON 15 billion) last year, following the reduction in VAT rates. At the same time, the institution collected EUR 5.9 billion (RON 26.84 billion) from excises and EUR 13.7 billion (RON 61.97 billion) from social security contributions.
Romanians will pay fewer taxes this year after a VAT reduction, the removal of the tax on special constructions, and the removal of the extra excise duty on fuel.
